"Molds and Multiples"

Discover an easier and faster way to make your favorite ceramic shapes!

We will spend day 1 making a basic form in clay, such as a wall house (pictured below) or a bowl, face, tray or animal.

Day 2 will be spent on making a one-part plaster mold of that form. Instruction will include how to frame in the mold, prepare the original, mix the plaster, and get the piece out of the mold.

You will end up with one clay piece which will be fired by Cheryl Tall Art Studio for later pick up, and a plaster mold which can be used many times to make variations of your original design.

Fee: $190 for 2 days, plus $10 materials fee for plaster. Total $200. Limited enrollment, reserve early.

Location: Cheryl Tall Art Studio, 1114 N. Coast Hwy. 101, Ste. 2, Leucadia, CA,

MINI CLAY STAMP WORKSHOP

Bring in costume jewelry, small figurines or statues, buckles, beads, buttons, shells or other textures that can be used to make small terra cotta or polymer clay stamp.  We will share these around and make multiple stamps in both roller and flat formats. It's fun to play with all the new textures and shapes that people will bring in!

The polymer clay stamps will be cured on site and you can take them home the same day. The terra cotta stamps will be kiln fired for pick up at a later date. Both the polymer clay and the terra cotta clay stamps can be used to texture fresh clay pieces. Or they can be used on their own as mosaic, jewelry, wind chimes, tiles or art object pieces.

Date: call or email for date of next workshop.   Time: 2:30-4:30 pm  Fee: $48, includes all materials and firing

You're Such a Doll!

"The Art Doll is a work of art drawn from the mind and hand of the artist and not bound by the same rules as dolls in other categories. It doesn't not have to be recognizable as a human form. It may be dressed or not. If dressed, the clothes may be carved, sculpted, glued on etc. Any media is permissible and likely. The art doll is judged by the same criteria as any other form of art, i.e., by the principles of design, scale, proportion, contrast, dominance, rhythm, balance, and must be judged for what it IS, nothing else."  ~Jane Covington

The workshop includes a presentation of art dolls, demonstrations, and hands-on participation. Each student will sculpt one doll out of clay, which will be painted with terra sigillata and oxides at the end of the day. The Art Studio will kiln fire the art projects for later pick up by participant. The fee includes a one-day class, and clay, glaze and one firing for one doll. Bring a lunch.
